Celebrating Taja Elizabeth November 17, 2002

Just 3 years ago our littlest angel arrived into the world. It was during an ultrasound at 16 weeks we learned our baby was a girl, so very beautiful and such a great wiggler. That very same day we also learned the heartbreaking news that she would not survive to be born. She was sick and it was amazing that she had stayed with us even those 16 weeks. We named her Taja Elizabeth and chose to love her and cherish the remaining time she would be with us. We had 3 more weeks to sing and read stories to her every chance we could before it was her time to go.

It was a sunny, beautiful Sunday morning that I delivered Taja at the hospital so quietly and gently. Connor and I held her and gazed at her for hours, memorizing her. The nurse commented she looked like me. It is amazing to think at 19 weeks you could see such a likeness but I actually agreed with her. Taja was so tiny, hardly as big as my hand. Our dear friend and priest Father Nico arrived and blessed and renewed her baptism. We kissed our angel one last time and said goodbye.

Just those nineteen weeks... yet we will never forget her. There is a place for her in our hearts, a place for her in our thoughts and although there will always be a lingering sadness we have such an overwhelming love for that little life.
